FUNKē FIRED ARTS is one of the largest public studios in the country. We are an educational facility with over 150 students rotating through rental space and classes every eight weeks throughout the year. We teach every level of wheel throwing, hand building, and clay sculpture in our adult programs. Our youth and teen clay programs are some of the most innovative classes offered. We also offer a Residency Program.
Our facility has the space and equipment to place 50 people on a wheel or 86 people at a hand building station at one time during a hands-on workshop. During the last two years, we increased our warehouse size to become one of the top clay materials distributors in the Midwest.
With this website, we have the ability to better serve the community of educators we come in contact with. This will be a great resource for potters and new clay enthusiasts alike. Last year we added an exhibition gallery and gallerie annex to the facility. The annex works to promote and sell work from local and national artists. Our exhibition gallery uses the industrial space to spark great instillation ideas and collaborative shows.
For those of you looking for greater involvement in the clay industry, working or creating an internship with our studio provides people with the ability to teach at all levels, create classes and workshops, work with local artist, set gallery shows, work closely with clay, glaze, and kiln companies, and gain an understanding of the business of clay work.
